Summer Project: coursework planning

 1) Research: Music videos

Watch the following music videos and analyse an aspect of media language for each one:

Music video 1: Marshmello x YUNGBLUD x black bear - Tongue Tied

How is narrative used in this music video to engage the audience?
Narrative is used in the music video to tell the audience about how the people who are in the video are trying to run away from the police and try to stop them.

Music video 2: Years & Years - I Wish I Knew

How is camerawork and mise-en-scene used in this video? Use CLAMPS to remember the different aspects of mise-en-scene.
camerawork and mise en scene is used for this video as in the start of the video there is a close up of the singer and the camera position is like this for a another minute and then there is a medium shot of the band singing the song and the camera is mostly focus on the lead singer.

Music video 3: Foals - Hummer

How is editing used in this music video to engage the audience?
Editing is used as in the intro the song is edited to the beat and when the drum is making a sound the song also continues and 59 seconds into the video a green screen is shown of the left hand side.
#Music video 4: Your choice

Select a music video of your choice and analyse an element of it e.g. narrative, camerawork, editing, visual effects etc. If you're not sure which video to use you could watch some of the following:
Nojohoda-nojohoda-context
most of the video is them in an hallway wearing weird masks and doing silly dances and does not link to lyrics in any way shape or form.
2) Music video planning

Plan out the basic details for your music video. What song do you plan to use? Will your video be performance or narrative based (or both)? Complete the following on your blog:

Artist and song you have chosen:Unforgettable by French Montana

Plan for music video (narrative/performance etc.):narrative

Actors/performers you plan to use:

Locations:Gym Outside a shop eg:Pizzahouse,Roosters

Costume/make-up/props required:have not decided

3) Statement of Intent

On the same Summer Project blogpost, write the rough first draft of your 300-word Statement of Intent for the two-minute music video you plan to create. The final draft of this document will be submitted to the exam board alongside your music video production and is worth 10 marks of the overall 60 marks available.
the song that i have chosen for this video is unforgettable by French Montana but i know that i will mostly be trying to make a narrative based video and that it will have at least two locations included in the video and the shots that i will mostly be using are medium and close up shots and this will show how person based it will be and the editing style that i will be using is editing to the beat which i find very useful and could convey the narrative easier to the audience and the people that will be starring in this video will be from all different backgrounds which will make it more diverse and the audience pleasure that i will be using are blumer and katz uses and gratifications theory and will be mostly using that which will hopefully make the video more easier to understand.
