The key conventions of music video are 

movement-dance routine

performance elements-showing the singer singing the song 

narrative-story that fits the lyrics

visual effects-special FX

intertextuality- when another media text references another media text

2) What is intertextuality?

Intertextuality is  when another media text references another media text eg:When the Thriller music video references An American Werewolf In London. 

3) When did music videos first become a major part of the music industry?

Music videos first became a major part of the music industry in the 1980's as back then there were only 4 television channels and most music was played on the radio and for the first time the viewers could see the music video with the channel MTV.

4) What launched in 1981 and why were music videos an important part of the music industry in the 1980s and 1990s? 

MTV was launched in 1981 and music videos were an important part of the music industry as it was a way of marketing the videos and this lead to people buying it from stores such as HMV.

5) How do audiences tend to access and watch music videos today?

Audiences tend to access music videos today on electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets and we mostly stream it on the internet such as YouTube and Social media sites.
