Walk and Talk Mock

 1.1:What is intertextuality? (2 marks)

Intertextuality is when one media text refers to another media text for example when Doctor who is referenced in class and makes a Cameo in episode 1

1.2:How are narrative features used to communicate meaning in the extract? (8 marks)

propps character theory states that there are a lot of different characters such as a hero, villian and also a helper. Ram is also a hero because he prevents April from killing her own father and in the heat of the moment April turns back into her normal self. Todorov's theory of equilibrium tells us that everything is normal as April is having a conversation with her Mum and for a couple of minutes Ram is also there and leaves. After that,April is still talking to her Mum and out of the blue,Aprils Dad comes In and then Corakinus is starting to take over Aprils heart and then swords start to come out from her hands. This shows that, Corakinus has taken control of her Heart. then her eyes start to turn Orange and is threatening to kill her father and is repeating the words that Corakinus is saying. this shows us the use of prop as Ram turns into a hero and stops April from killing her Father. This effects the audience as it shows that April is a mix between Hero and Villain.

1.3:How successful is the extract in targeting this Particular Audience Group? (12 marks)

Young people or teenagers will relate to this (personal identity) because they can see themselves in the narrative. Evidence for this clip is That April is a strong Female teenager as she is arguing with her father. this will effect the female teenage audience as they can also be aggressive and they can also be a change as it subverts the stereotype which is that girls are normally not the protagonist. Teenage Boys might like this because they are probably tired of them playing the main role. Young  People or Teenagers enjoy science fiction because it provides them with a diversion or escapism from their deary and miserable daily lives. It is interesting because it is about new innovations and futuristic weapons and aliens from other planets. Evidence from this clip is that the shadow king and one of his companions is using the weapon and are trying to take over April and April is trying to fight the presence of corakinus in her heart and a cause is that April almost killed her Dad. they are interested in this as they want to see Blood and Violence . Some teenagers might relate to this as they might have a strained relationship with there mother or father. also they are interested in aliens and how they are taking over Earth.

2:To what extent do television programmes reflect the social and cultural contexts of the Time of their production? (20 marks)

The social context of Doctor Who is that Susan subverts the stereotype of Teenagers as she is smart and intelligent then some of the teachers and as she is a alien in and in her brain and  she thinks that she knows everthing and this makes Barbara and Ian (the teachers) very angry. the cultural context of doctor who is that the cast is not a diverse cast as there are mostly White British and this reflects 1960's Britain as there were mostly white people and  did not like the fact that a foreign person came to their country. Also in the 1960's there were a lot of people who came from India and the British did not like the fact that there are people who came into their country and were not very nice to them. also there were no representation of black or disabled people which made feel powerless as they are not the character in the TV show or movie.

The historical context of Doctor Who is that at the time there was a Space Race Between the Soviet Union and The USA which was to get the first man onto the moon and people were starting to get very interested in science fiction and Doctor who was also a change of heart from the news and this was a show that all the family could watch and Doctor Who aired at 7PM at this was the perfect time as most families have eaten dinner and they are waiting for the show to air and also back in these days most shows were appointment to-view and if you missed it you missed it you could not go to catch up and watch from there and also there were no plus 1 channels which are channels which are a hour behind the normal channel. Also in Doctor Who there is a spaceship called the TARDIS  and people were interested in outer space and other planets.

The Social (cultural)Context of Class is that in 2016 there is a more esamble cast as in the cast they have members of the Bame Community and also there are representation of Disabled people and there are Representation of Gay people as charlie is a alien but as he is a Alien he does not understand what Gay means. Also there is glimpses of a Dysfunctional family as April and her Dad do not get along because when her Dad was driving he crashed. he did that because he wanted to end his own life and as a result of that accident he put his wife (Aprils Mum) into a wheelchair and that she might never be able to walk again.

The  Historical context of Class is that in space between Doctor Who and Class there have been a lot of people who have moved to the UK . and also Class subverts stereotypes as older people were wiser and more powerful, but in Class the younger People who are more known to be rebellious and make bad decisions and in class the roles have been reversed as the younger people are wiser and the older people are more ignorant and in 2016 the producers have done a more modern twist to as they have added CGI and quick transitions between the different scenes.
